Good pruning is subtraction with a purpose. We remove what compromises the tree's structure, what threatens a roof or a walkway, and what shades out the rest of the canopy — and we leave everything else alone. Cuts are made to ISA standards at the right points on the branch so the tree can seal them properly.
Timing matters as much as technique. Species differ in when they tolerate cutting and when disease pressure makes it risky, so we schedule the work around the tree rather than the calendar. On mature specimens we favour lighter, more frequent pruning over a single aggressive reduction.
